About the artist

Making work that
lives in joy

Lauren Busch is an oil painter and printmaker based in Aurora, CO. Her work is rooted in a lifelong love of mark-making that started before she could talk, and a deep appreciation for imaginative, expressive color. Her paintings and relief prints celebrate the joy, playfulness, and beauty she finds in everyday life.

Working primarily in oils, Lauren is drawn to loose, free styles even as her perfectionist side keeps pulling her back toward the details. That tension, she'll tell you, is where the interesting work happens. Her work has been shown at The Schoolhouse in Parker, CO, and has found homes with collectors who want to bring more color and joy into their everyday spaces.

After fifteen years in tech, Lauren came back to art seriously as an adult and hasn't looked back. Outside of painting and printmaking, she is endlessly curious across creative mediums, spending her free time experimenting with fiber craft, digital work, works on paper, and whatever else catches her eye. She is a member and Vice President of the Parker Artists Guild.

Her color work has been shaped significantly by the teaching of Alai Ganuza, and she cites Clyde Steadman, Paul Heaston, and Mitch Caster among her favorite local influences.

Her work has been shown at The Schoolhouse in Parker,CO and has found homes with collectors who want to bring more color and joy into their everyday spaces. She takes on a limited number of commissions each year.

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep."
